We hope everyone had a happy, healthy holiday season!
As the first featured program of 2024, Lightstone Education Center, a CNA, QMA, Insulin Administration, and CPR training program based in Lafayette, Indiana, is under the spotlight this January.
To learn more about the program's history and current course offerings, we spoke with Tesha Hardy, Lightstone's owner, founder, and program director.
Throughout her conversation with Wend Care’s Megan Gower, Tesha looked back on her long career in the healthcare industry, expressed a devotion to providing accessible education, and offered advice that applies to all workers.
Tesha developed an interest in nursing at a young age and throughout each development in her career, she has never wavered in her commitment to providing compassionate care.
By becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant during nursing school, Tesha gained experiences early on in her career that would later inform her teaching methods at Lightstone.
As a CNA, she worked primarily in long term care facilities and found that she enjoyed caring for the elderly members of her community directly, so after earning an undergraduate degree, Tesha went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing to be an Adult Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
Then, to expand her impact and empower other healthcare workers to follow in her footsteps, she established Lightstone Education Center in 2017.
Looking at the now-program owner’s accolades, it’s easy to understand the basis for her favorite advice to give to students: “Keep going."
Sometimes, this phrase means to finish the class, and in others, it motivates students to keep furthering their education, just as Tesha did.
As an instructor, Tesha empowers her students, teaching them the skills to handle tough situations with grace as confident and competent workers. By working with organizations that provide financial assistance and offering an array of payment plans, Tesha hopes to make her training program accessible to as many students as possible.
No matter what role you work in, own it!
